Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

My demographic is a Millennial or Generation Y(1977-2000). They say that Millennials are very fluent with digital technology. We don't just embrace it it's a way of life. This is very true about me. I believe technology is very important and creates convenience in the world.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

Warby Parker , the online eyewear retailer, donates a pair of eyeglasses to impoverished people for every pair it sells. The company recently announced that it had distributed 500,000 pairs of eyeglasses to people in need, reaching the milestone earlier this summer. The company came about when David Gilboa, Jeff Rider, Andy Hunt, and Warby Parker were students at MBA back in 2008. They noticed how expensive fashionable eyeglasses were and wanted to change that. They already had experience with the non-profit Vision Spring. Where they design and help low income entrepreneurs sell affordable eyeglasses. They started their business a year and a half later in 2010. Their company was strictly online but their traffic was so crazy that they had to start showrooms with Need Supply Co. Not only do they donate but they sell to their customers at a very good price. Normal $500.00 frames go for $95-$145.00!
So once you shop and buy a pair of their discounted eyeglasses, they tally up the number sold that month and make a monthly donation to their nonprofit partners. The nonprofit train men and women in developing countries give basic eye exams and gives the glasses to communities. They try hard to spread awareness and make eye care available to all communities!

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

In the video game world there are so many different video games and video game systems. And some are doing better than others. For example, the portfolio analysis of the video game market is the star of all the game systems which is the Microsoft X-box. Then, there is the cash cow which is Sony PlayStation. Then there is the question mark which is the Nintendo Wii. And last but not least there is the dog of the industry which is Sega Dream Cast.

Microsoft X-box is the star of the industry because it has high growth rate and high market share. The game system has popular games and features that the other game systems don’t have. Which is why most people prefer the X-box. “We rate MICROSOFT CORP (MSFT) a BUY. This is based on the convergence of positive investment measures, which should help this stock outperform the majority of stocks that we rate. The company's strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, largely solid financial position with reasonable debt levels by most measures, notable return on equity, attractive valuation levels and solid stock prices performance.”( http://www.thestreet.com/). This quote shows exactly why Microsoft X-box is the star.

Sony PlayStation is considered the cash cow of the industry. It has low growth rate but high market share. PlayStation doesn’t have all the features to draw people in like the X-box. But according to an online source PlayStation new ps4 is competing by adding new features that they know their customers would love. For example an online source states “But the most advanced revelation could be the PS4 system update 2.0 which will allow friends to play a game even if they don't own it” (http://www.cnbc.com/). Then, there is the question mark of the video game industry which is the Nintendo Wii. The Wii is a game system where you can be active and it’s for all ages. The Wii has high growth rate but low market share which is why it’s not doing as its full potential.

Then, there is the dog of the industry which is Sega Dream Cast. They are labeled the biggest failure of the video game industry. The Dream Cast has low growth rate and low market share which is why it is discontinued. It could not compete with the other video game systems. As stated in an online source Few gadgets are remembered as fondly as Sega's Dreamcast, and yet this quirky games machine flopped so hard that it forced Sega to quit the console market entirely.” (http://www.cnet.com/). Which is why they are considered the dog of the market.

Week 1; ECO Great Customer Service

I experienced great customer service when I went to BCBG here in Las Vegas. All the employees greeted me as I walked in and around the store and if I needed help with something they didn’t hesitate to assist me. They made sure I was aware about all the promotions that were going on throughout the store. They were very helpful but not overbearing. The store was very clean and organized. And when I got to the register there was a little confusion about the sales. The shirt that I had rung up another price other than the price that was on the sign. I kindly let the cashier know and she apologized and explained to me that it was “select styles” but she still changed the price. She didn’t fight with me or she didn’t give me an attitude about it. In the text it states “Consumers needs and wants are fulfilled through market offerings, some combination of products, services, information, or experiences offered to a market to satisfy a need or a want. They also include service activities or benefits offered for sale that are essentially intangible and do not result in ownership of anything.” (Marketing pg. 7). I believe that them rewarding me with a coupon and changing the price for me and apologizing was focusing on me and my needs and my happiness. They cared that I was satisfied with their service and their store and wanted me to come back another time. I really wanted that shirt and I didn’t have to debate whether I should get it or not because she changed the price for me no questions asked. That is one of my favorite clothing stores and their customer service is definitely one of the reasons why. I recommend all my friends to go there anytime they ask.

Week 1 ECO; My Voice

My name is Tajae and fashion excites me! To me you can say a lot about yourself with the clothes you wear. You can tell what type of mood you’re in. Me personally, I like the business side of fashion. You get to see everything behind the scenes before it gets exposed to the public eye. You also get to see all the hard work and dedication that’s behind all the beautiful pieces of clothing everyone admires. I really started to appreciate and look up to all the hard work that no one really sees or pays attention too when I became one of those people doing the work.  I believe that there is fashion in everything and everyone. And when I open up my boutique I plan on showing people that. From the artwork on the walls to the clothes and shoes being sold in my store. I hope to be able to capture that in the presentation of my boutique. I also believe that online shopping has to be one of the greatest inventions ever! There is no better feeling to me than shopping from the comfort of your own bed. I guess you can say that fashion is my life the business side and being a consumer. I see benefit on my behalf from both ends. Accomplishment and cute clothes!
